Best case, 2-10 flat acres of wide open, unobstructed property would be perfect for my equipment. With speeds of up to 12 miles an hour and very little in the way to slow me down, my big 61-inch SCAG Tiger Cat can make quick work of that expanse. Even slightly smaller lawns, with few obstructions, would be feasible, particularly if in very close proximity to another of my customers, so I wouldn't have to load and unload from the trailer between mowing both properties.

However, there are some types of properties which are just not a good fit for my offerings and equipment. Smaller lawns, less than about 3/4 of an acre would probably be better served with smaller mowers. Also, lawns with many small dips and gullies, drainage culverts, pot holes, moguls and steeper hills are not ideal either, especially for wide solid cutting decks as found on my two larger mowers. Scalping of these uneven areas can often be an unsightly result. 

Sometimes the best way to mow these various inconsistencies is by hand with a small 21-inch commercial grade push mower or heavy-duty string trimmer. Certainly I have the equipment to do it all, but if there are a lot of these areas, the extra time required will often drive up the overall cost. Now, of course, a certain amount of trimming is expected for any lawn I mow, and the pricing includes that work. But, when the hand mowing and trimming takes a lot more time than normal, due to an abundance of inconsistencies in the topography, it's safe to assume my set-up isn't optimal for that property. And, you can be sure if I see that's the case when I walk the property to give you an estimate, I'll be quick to let you know.
